The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance

We are a recognized leader in Virginia’s response to sexual and domestic violence.

We are a coalition of people and agencies devoted to ending sexual and domestic violence.
We have a 30-year history of working to make Virginia violence-free.

What We Believe . . .

Everyone is affected by sexual and domestic violence
Everyone has the right to live free of sexual and domestic violence.
Everyone can take action to enforce that right.

What We Do . . .

We bring people together to build networks and to learn from one another in order to make Virginia safer.
We educate individuals, communities, professionals, and legislators on how to stop sexual and domestic violence from happening and how to help those who have been hurt by violence.
We make sure your community has necessary resources to respond effectively to sexual and domestic violence.
We advocate for people affected by sexual and domestic violence to make sure they get the help they need.

Hollaback RVA

Hollaback is a movement to end street harassment powered by a network of local activists around the world.  We work together to better understand street harassment, to ignite public conversations, and to develop innovative strategies to ensure equal access to public spaces. Dedicated to fighting street harassment, Hollaback! has empowered people in over 50 cities and 20 countries internationally to respond through a smartphone/web application. Users are encouraged to speak up when they see harassment by quickly documenting it in a short post (photo optional) and sharing it to a publicly viewable map.

The VDSS Office of Family Violence funds local public and private non-profit domestic violence programs whose mission and purpose are to address the issue of domestic violence within their community and respond to the needs of all people in that community who have experienced and/or been impacted by domestic violence. The Office of Family Violence values the provision of consistent reliable services for victims and children in every locality of the Commonwealth. The OFV’s goals are to support local programs so they can empower victims of domestic violence, help every family feel safe, find the resources needed to thrive, and educate communities on the effects of domestic violence.
